Astrology of the August 2020 New Moon
The Full Moon will be at 11°Aquarius 45′. Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by Saturn in traditional astrology and Uranus in modern astrology. Aquarius is a sign known for its eccentric and rebellious nature. Aquarius is the sign of the exile, but also the humanitarian.
At the time of the Full Moon, we have a couple of other interesting aspects taking place. Mercury, in the sign of Cancer, will be opposing retrograde Saturn in the sign of Capricorn. Mercury will perfect its opposition to Saturn approximately 5 hours after the Full Moon.
Mercury is associated with communications, learning, and thinking. Saturn is associated with restrictions, boundaries, limitations, authority, and structures. The opposition is a challenging aspect, so there may be issues related to not getting our messages across to others. There could also be push back against authority figures by speaking out, repressing discussion or communication because of authority figures, or simply impediments to communications such as telecommunications issues.
Jupiter, which, like Saturn, is also currently retrograde in Capricorn is squared by Mars in Aries at the time of the Full Moon. Mars is associated with anger, aggression, and force. The square is another challenging aspect and can cause conflict or friction. Jupiter is associated with such topics as philosophy, beliefs, and expansion. Some may have trouble or clashes with others because of differing opinions or philosophies. The nature of Jupiter may expand the friction in these matters out of proportion if we are not careful. The Mars square Jupiter aspect does not perfect until nearly 24 hours after the Full Moon.
Jupiter will still be within orb of a sextile to Neptune at the time of the Full Moon. However, as the Jupiter sextile Neptune aspect is separating, the energies will not be as strong as it was leading up to and at the exact aspect. This is a shame, as the Jupiter sextile Neptune aspect usually has us acting more selflessly to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
What happens during a Full Moon is sometimes related to the corresponding New Moon in the same zodiac sign six months prior. The corresponding prior New Moon for this Full Moon was on 24 January 2020.
