Astrology of the February 2021 Full Moon
The Full Moon will be at 8° Virgo 57′. As the sign of Virgo is ruled by Mercury, this Full Moon is also ruled by Mercury.
Mercury was recently retrograde from 30 January to 20 February 2021. While the Mercury retrograde period has passed, we are still under the retrograde shadow of that Mercury retrograde. We will not move out of that retrograde shadow until 12 March 2021.
Retrograde shadow periods are a strange time when some may still feel the retrograde period’s effects, even though it has officially passed. We may experience delays, setbacks, miscommunications, or mix-ups up until Mercury catches up to the zodiac degree it was at before it started its retrograde. Staying vigilant and continuing to double-check details and factor in delays can be crucial, especially if the stationary degrees (26° and 11° Aquarius) of the recent Mercury retrograde made connections with your natal chart.
Another indication that taking your time and not burning any bridges might be good advice is that Saturn is not very far away from its recent square to Uranus. Saturn is the old guard, how things have always been done. In contrast, Uranus is the new, the innovative, and the revolutionary. They have been squaring off against one another, causing tension and friction.
So, while Full Moons are about culminations or high points, they are also about endings. In the recent Saturn square Uranus aspect, Saturn was in the superior position and had the upper hand. As exhilarating and exciting as it might be to throw something away at the moment, to forge ahead to new vistas, there may be something to be said for what you know and can rely upon.
Mercury is currently in Aquarius, and the recent Mercury retrograde was entirely in Aquarius’s sign. Over the last month, we may have spent some time weighing up topics associated with the house Aquarius occupies in our natal chart — going over old ground to do with these issues. We are still under the shadow of that retrograde phase, though, and that Mercury is the one that is ruling this Full Moon.
Mercury in Aquarius can be visionary. It can also be very utopian. It’s not always the most practical, though. Don’t be afraid to think twice, then think twice again.
