Lunar Eclipse – 19 November 2021

The Lunar Eclipse of 19 November 2021 is a  Partial Lunar Eclipse. During a Partial Lunar Eclipse, the lineup of the Sun, Earth, and Moon means that only part of the Earth’s darkest shadow (umbra) is cast upon the Moon. This happens because while the Sun and Moon are opposite each other they may not be exactly opposite each side of the Earth.

The website TimeandDate.com says this eclipse “is visible from North and South America, Australia, and parts of Europe and Asia. It will be the longest partial lunar eclipse since the 15th century.

The Partial Lunar Eclipse will be occurring at 27° Taurus 14′. The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse degree is 28° Taurus – “A woman pursued by mature romance.

What is a Lunar Eclipse?

A lunar eclipse occurs at the time of a Full Moon (Sun and Moon opposite each other/ 180 degrees apart). When the Sun, Earth, and Moon are all in alignment during a Full Moon, and the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon, a lunar eclipse occurs. It is safe to look at lunar eclipses.

Full Moons are traditionally a time of completion, harvest, or culmination. A lunar eclipse amplifies the full Moon’s power and may bring sudden change or bring something that has been hidden out in the open. Lunar eclipses tend to be associated with endings, more emotional and focused on change from within.

You are unlikely to feel the full impact of this eclipse unless you have natal or secondary progressed planets that closely aspect the eclipse degree (27° Taurus 14′).

Astrological conditions of the 19 November 2021 Partial Lunar Eclipse

The Lunar Eclipse takes place at 27° Taurus 14′. As Taurus is ruled by Venus, Venus is the ruler of this eclipse. Venus is currently in the sign of Capricorn (which forms a trine by sign with Taurus), so the Moon will be able to “see” its ruler, and can, therefore “call” on it for assistance if needed.

Venus will have just moved past its exact trine to Uranus at the time of the eclipse. Uranus is associated with events that are unexpected, sudden, and often shocking.

Venus trine Uranus can have us wanting to spice up our relationships a bit. We are attracted to the unusual, and the unconventional. Trines are easy and beneficial aspects that allow the planets to work well with each other.  When one of the planets has the potential to be quite disruptive or destructive,  the easy-flowing nature of a trine can sometimes make it easier for that planet to manifest its mayhem.

A few days prior to the eclipse, Mars will have opposed Uranus. Mars opposite Uranus can lead to too much happening at once. Mars wants to push forward, as does Uranus.

With Jupiter (which can expand and enflame matters) squaring the eclipse degree, there could be a tendency to go overboard. Rounding up matters we also have Pluto (associated with obsession, transformation, and power dynamics) being trine the eclipse degree.

Now, for some slightly more alarming news (perhaps). The eclipse degree is conjunct the fixed star Algol. Algol has a pretty fearsome reputation and is associated with the Medusa myth. Traditionally it is associated with decapitations and losing your head.

That can all sound a little ominous. I don’t think it necessarily needs to be though. I think we just need to pay attention to the lesson from Algol – don’t lose your head!

We have a lot of planets in the obsessive sign of Scorpio, and eclipses are known for their ability to bring about sudden changes.  There are some exciting, dramatic, and perhaps erotic and obsessional vibes with this eclipse,  but it needn’t be all bad.

This is the opening eclipse in the Taurus/Scorpio eclipses that will be occurring over the next 2 years. We have one more eclipse from the Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses that we have been experiencing since June 2020. The last of the current Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses will be a Total Solar Eclipse on December 4 at 12° Sagittarius 22′.

What the 19 November 2021 Partial Lunar Eclipse means for you

First, you need to discover where the Lunar Eclipse is occurring in your natal chart. When you know which natal house the eclipse degree is in, reading the relevant information for that natal house below will indicate where you might expect sudden changes.
