Astrology of this New Moon

Astrology chart for New Moon of February 2020

The New Moon will be at 4° Pisces 28′. Pisces is ruled by Neptune in modern astrology and by Jupiter in traditional astrology. As it happens, at the time of this New Moon, both the traditional and modern ruler of Pisces will be moving away from a sextile to each other. Jupiter sextile Neptune is an idealistic and generous aspect that brings out the best in a lot of people.

The New Moon will also be sextile to Mars in Capricorn. Mars in Capricorn is a disciplined and energetic position for Mars to be in and any new plans made during this New Moon should have a good chance of “sticking” because of this.

The Full Moon is also sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is innovative and exciting, and eager to embrace change. The Mars trine Uranus aspect was exact a few days prior to the New Moon and gave many of us the power to not worry so much what others think, and just do it!

Sounds pretty inspiring, and energetic doesn’t it? It is, but there may be a few other aspects that we need to keep an eye on as well.

The position of the New Moon is not far from retrograde Mercury, also in Pisces. Retrograde Mercury tends to bring confusion, mix-ups, and delays. As this Mercury retrograde is in the sign of Pisces (where it is in fall or not at its best), and the presence of Neptune (which can blur boundaries) close to it, this Mercury retrograde might prove even more so.

Mercury retrograde is a good time for re-doing things though. So, if you find yourself wanting to attempt some new beginning that you have tried once before, this Mercury retrograde during this New Moon might actually be of benefit to you.

Also at the time of the New Moon, we have Venus moving up to its square to Jupiter. Venus square Jupiter can have us overindulging and overvaluing something at this time.

It’s a bit of a mixed bag but I think kind of exciting. There is plenty of help from Mars to get things started and to stick with it. We are also quite idealistic and want to be our best with the fading Jupiter sextile Neptune aspect happening as well.

Retrograde Mercury and the presence of Neptune mean we need to stay on our toes and double-check that what we are planning is viable. The Venus square Jupiter aspect lets us know that it’s all too easy to get sidetracked and become self-indulgent.

Plans and goals put in place during a New Moon often reach a culmination or completion around the date of the corresponding Full Moon. The corresponding Full Moon for this New Moon is on 2 September 2020.

Pisces Ascendant or Pisces in the 1st House

The 1st house is associated with you, your body, your appearance and how you appear to others. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 1st house could represent a desire to make changes in your health and diet which might make a visible difference to your appearance further down the track (putting on or losing weight, better health).

You may be toying with the idea of a makeover in some way, whether it is your haircut, the clothes you wear or how you present your personality to the world at large.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Aquarius Ascendant or Pisces in the 2nd House

The 2nd house is associated with your income, finances, and possessions. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 2nd house could manifest in you drawing up a budget to get a better hold on your finances. It could also see you looking to make changes in regards to your income, whether this is a new job, an additional job or a side hustle.

As this is also the house of possessions, it could be that you are making a rather large purchase at this time. This is unlikely to be real estate though, as real estate is a 4th house matter.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Capricorn Ascendant or Pisces in the 3rd House

The 3rd house is associated with siblings, early education, short educational courses, general communications, your local neighborhood and day to day travel. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 3rd house could manifest as you starting something new with a sibling or concerning your local neighborhood. You may be looking into taking some sort of short course (unlikely to be a degree as higher education is a 9th house topic).

The way that you communicate with others may undergo some change at this time, or the way that you get around in your day to day life might differ. For example, perhaps you decide to ride a bike more, or you may devise a new routine when it comes to dealing with emails, correspondence, phone calls, etc.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Sagittarius Ascendant or Pisces in the 4th House

The 4th house is associated with your family, particularly your parents, your home, and real estate in general. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 4th house could manifest in new changes concerning your parents, perhaps they are transitioning to a different stage in their lives. They could move, retire, or be starting something new. Then again, it could be you that is leaving the family home, or this may relate to other family members.

New beginnings concerning where you live are possible at this time. You may be building a house, changing residence or even moving to another country, as the 4th house also represents our home country and roots (although I would expect to see some other activity related to the 9th house of foreign places as well if this were the case).

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Scorpio Ascendant or Pisces in the 5th House

The 5th house is associated with your children, creativity, romance and what you do for fun. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 5th house could manifest as new beginnings concerning your children. Perhaps you are just about to become a parent or expand your family in some way. Children could be growing up and moving toward new goals of their own such as finishing secondary school, entering the workforce,  going on to tertiary study, or moving out of the family home.

The 5th house is also very creative, so this may be a very fruitful time to begin a new artistic endeavor. Romance is another one of the features of this house, so for some, there may be a new romance on the cards. Sport, socializing and anything you find to be enjoyable is included in this house and may indicate what new projects you might like to initiate at this time.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Libra Ascendant or Pisces in the 6th House

The 6th house is associated with your health and fitness, daily routines, pets, and work, especially in connection to those that you work with or work for you. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 6th house could manifest as you deciding to change your health and fitness in some way. This might include quitting bad habits, starting a diet, or incorporating more exercise into your life.

As this is the house of pets, you may be getting a pet at this time or there may be  changes in some way related to your pets. You may also have new changes concerning your work. You may change jobs, or be working with different people than you have before. It could also be that there are new processes related to your work.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Virgo Ascendant or Pisces in the 7th House

The 7th house is associated with close one on one relationships, such as romantic or business partners, as well as close friends. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 7th house could manifest as new beginnings regarding relationships. This could be taking the next step in a relationship, such as moving in together, getting engaged or married.

Very close friends are often included in this house, so new beginnings concerning your good friends could also be possible. Business partnerships may begin at this time or evolve in some way or form.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Leo Ascendant or Pisces in the 8th House

The 8th house is associated with shared finances and possessions. This can include shared finances with a partner, inheritances, taxation, insurances, and loans from institutions.

A New Moon in the 8th house could manifest as the beginning of merging your finances or property with a partner (business or romantic). The 8th is also associated with inheritances. As the New Moon is associated with beginnings rather than endings, I would expect to see perhaps the beginning of an inheritance being executed, rather than the death of a person per se.

A new loan may be taken out at this time, or an agreement with someone or something else regarding finances is possible. The 8th is the house of other people’s money, so that money does not necessarily have to be from a partner or a lending institution. New dealing with regards to insurances and taxation are also possibilities of the New Moon in the 8th.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Cancer Ascendant or Pisces in the 9th House

The 9th house is associated with expanding our horizons through such matters as long-distance travel, foreigners, other cultures, higher education, religion, philosophy, publishing, and the law. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 9th house could manifest as setting off on an overseas trip or having more to do with those from other countries or cultures. This could also be a time when you are looking to start some form of higher education, or initiate something concerning religion, philosophy or other beliefs (including esoteric ones such as astrology).

The 9th house also covers the subjects of publishing and the law. It may be that you are  about to embark on writing a book, or something of a similar nature. There could be new beginnings relating to the law, whether through persons that are represented by this (police, lawyers, judges), or involvement in a lawsuit, tickets, fines, etc.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Gemini Ascendant or Pisces in the 10th House

The 10th house is associated with your career and public reputation, honors, and infamy. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 10th house could manifest as a new job or change in your current career. You may be receiving more attention than usual over the next 6 months, which could include attention from the general public, or in your private life.

If you were say getting married at this time, giving birth, or doing something that is considered a notable event, those in your private circle of family and friends would more likely be focused on you at this time.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Taurus Ascendant or Pisces in the 11th House

The 11th house is associated with groups, friends, organizations and your hopes and dreams. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 11th house could manifest as new beginnings concerning your friends. It could be a new friendship forms, there are changes in an already existing friendship or you embark on a new activity or event with friends. This is a time when joining new groups and organizations would not be unusual.

This is also the house of your hopes and dreams and it may mean that something regarding these matters is starting at this time. You may have been thinking about what you want to achieve and are now ready to act, or it could be the very beginning kernel of what you would like to do.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).

Aries Ascendant or Pisces in the 12th House

The 12th house is associated with hidden and secret matters as well as places of confinement and seclusion. This can also relate to addictions, our undoing or illnesses. A New Moon in this house may have you reflecting on what types of changes you might like to make in these areas of your life.

A New Moon in the 12th house could manifest as the start of a withdrawal or seclusion from others such as entering a retreat, hospital, monastery, rehab, or jail. The 12th is also associated with low energy, and a need to rest more and recharge your batteries may be needed, and a change of pace from the previous period.

As psychological matters are covered by the 12th house, this may be a time when a new treatment is undertaken. Hidden illness or those that are not visibly evident, such as autoimmune diseases, mental health, etc may become evident at this time, or existing conditions may experience some new beginning or change.

As Mercury is retrograde at the moment, you may be best leaving any radical changes until the 9th of March when Mercury retrograde finishes (or even leave it until the 29th of March to ensure you are out of the retrograde shadow period as well).
