Astrology Chart of the September 2020 New Moon
Astrology of the September 2020 New Moon
The September 2020 New Moon will be at 25° Virgo 00′. Virgo is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury.
At the time of this New Moon, both the Moon and the Sun will be very close to making a trine to retrograde Saturn.
The trine is usually a positive aspect that can bring out the best qualities of both planets. However, when a superior planet (those beyond Earth) is retrograde, it is often the case that the trines from the Sun are quite tense.
During a superior planet’s retrograde phase, the Sun will make two trines to the planet involved. The first trine (known as an accelerated trine) occurs not long after the superior planet stations retrograde. The second trine (known as a decelerated trine) occurs near the end of the superior planet’s retrograde phase.
As Saturn is close to the end of its current retrograde phase, it will be a decelerated trine from the Sun that will be occurring not long after the New Moon. The decelerated trine often leads to impatience or recklessness regarding topics that may have been limited, frustrated or restricted during the Saturn retrograde.
As the Moon will be conjunct the Sun at this time, there will be a strong emotional element to any acting out or impatience that the decelerated trine may bring.
Mercury (ruler of the Moon and Sun in Virgo) will have just moved past a square to Jupiter about 15 minutes before the New Moon. The square is a challenging aspect that often causes friction between the planets involved.
In the case of Mercury and Jupiter being in a square aspect, we can expect problems concerning thinking and communications (Mercury) versus enthusiasm, optimism, expansion and beliefs (Jupiter). It could be that thinking and communications are unrealistically optimistic, or too big at this time. It could also be that some condescending attitudes cause problems, or that an inability to see eye to eye with others regarding belief system could be problematic
Speaking of not seeing eye to eye, or not seeing what is in front of you… we also have Neptune in a very wide opposition to the Moon/Sun. While this opposition is quite wide, the fact that Neptune can be associated with blurring the boundaries, fogginess, not being able to see all the details, or even outright deceit; it seems like a good idea to acknowledge it.
All in all, New Moons are about starting new projects and embarking on new beginnings. However, with the trine that the Sun makes to retrograde Saturn, the tension between Mercury and Jupiter at the same time, and Neptune blurring the boundaries; it may really pay to count to ten, and really, really, REALLY look before you leap into something new. It may very well be a case of jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire if you are not careful.
