Weekly Astrology – 16 to 22 October 2023

We are currently in between eclipses. We had the first of the Libra eclipses on the 14th of October, and we will have the last of the Taurus eclipses on the 28th of October.

There is a long gap between the Solar Eclipse in Libra of the 14th and the next planetary aspect (not including the Lunar aspects).

In the very early hours of Friday, we have Mercury catching up with the Sun. The Mercury conjunct Sun aspect is referred to as a cazimi and is often said to enhance the planet that conjuncts the Sun.

Mercury is a planet associated with communications, thinking, and learning, so we can expect that we might have some great ideas or illuminating conversations around the time of the cazimi.  After Mercury has moved beyond its conjunction with the Sun though, it will be under the beams and can be overlooked, or overshadowed by the glare of the Sun. Keep those ideas in mind though, just because nobody is paying them any special attention right now,  doesn’t mean that they cannot be great ideas.

Later on Friday night, Mercury will square Pluto. A square is a challenging aspect that often requires some sort of action on our behalf. There may be deep, intense, and penetrating conversations or transformative thinking at this time. As it is a square, and Pluto can pack quite a punch, you may want to watch for power-play, manipulation or paranoia.

Late morning on Saturday, the Sun will move up to square Pluto. The prior Mercury square Pluto may have some repercussions now.  There may be feelings of powerlessness or not as much autonomy over your own life as you like to think you have.

Thankfully very late at night on Saturday, we have Venus trine retrograde Jupiter. This should bring some lightheartedness and some much-needed sweetness.  Catching up with supportive and encouraging friends or socializing may well be more appreciated and needed than usual at this time.

In the early hours of Sunday, Mercury moves into Scorpio. Scorpio is a fixed water sign ruled by Mars. Mercury in Scorpio is a great time for delving deep into a mystery.  This could also be a great time to work on any interesting ideas that came up during the Mercury cazimi earlier in the week.

Late morning Mercury trines retrograde Saturn. Saturn lends stability and durability to Mercury at this time. As Mercury is currently in Scorpio, it has the ability to keep the momentum up just keep working away at what it is focused on.

After 6 years of providing weekly horoscopes, I have decided to move away from writing them for the website. However, I will still provide a weekly astrology round-up of what is happening in the skies.

For those interested in horoscopes, you might consider the Astro Babble podcast that I and Donna from Donna B Astrology co-host. We record horoscopes for the New and Full Moons, look ahead at the planetary aspects for the following two weeks and give our take on them. You can find the latest New or Full Moon podcast on the front page of this website or over at the Astro Babble YouTube Channel
