We start the week with Mercury squaring Jupiter. It’s easy to get carried away with big ideas when Mercury and Jupiter are squaring off against each other. We may be too enthusiastic and overly optimistic about what we can actually achieve though.
Early afternoon on Monday, we have the New Moon in Cancer. New Moons are a time for setting new beginnings and setting intentions.
This New Moon is a little edgy though. The Moon Mansion for this New Moon is a little ominous (you can check out the Astro Babble podcast I did with Donna for more details on that below) and we have the New Moon opposing Pluto and a tense Mars opposing Saturn aspect building up.
On Thursday, the Sun forms a trine with Neptune. This can be quite a spiritual, idealistic, or altruistic aspect. However, I do wonder if it isn’t a bit too Pollyanna-ish given the current astrological climate. In any case, it may be a bit of calm before some of the upcoming stormy weather.
Also on Thursday, we have Mars opposing retrograde Saturn. This is likely to have a stop/go, frustrating edge to it. Mars just wants to move forward, but Saturn not only wants to slow him down but has been going back over old ground to find new obstacles to place in Mars’ path.
On Friday the Sun opposes Pluto. This may be a good time for going deep within. It’s a good time for depth, honesty, and transformation potentially. It’s also a time when you may get caught up in power plays or you may feel like you have little control over your life.
On Saturday Venus stations retrograde. Venus will be retrograde from the 22nd of July until the 3rd of September. During a Venus retrograde we are all re-evaluating how we approach matters to do with our relationships, values, art, beauty and harmony.
If you know your natal chart, the natal house that has Leo in it (the sign that Venus is retrograding in) or Taurus and Libra (signs ruled by Venus) you may get some indication of the specific Venusian topics you will be re-evaluating.
There may also be some linkage to these Venusian topics from 8 years ago, as Venus returns to retrograde in a place very similar to where it was every 8 years.
You may have already experienced some of these Venusian issues, as the retrograde shadow period for Venus started on 19 June and will extend the time that you may feel the effects of the Venus retrograde up until 7 October.
Late night on Saturday, the Sun enters Leo. Where the Sun is, there tends to be a bright light or focus on that area of your chart. So, if you know where Leo is in your natal chart, you can expect there to be more of a focus to do with the people and topics associated with that natal house.
On Sunday, we have Mercury square Uranus. Thinking, learning and communications may be more harried, rushed, and frazzled at this time. We may come up against people or subjects that make us feel irritated, uncomfortable, and tense.
All times and dates given are for the United States Central Daylight Time (C.D.T.).
After 6 years of providing weekly horoscopes, I have decided to move away from writing them for the website. However, I will still provide a weekly astrology round-up of what is happening in the skies.
For those interested in horoscopes, you might consider the Astro Babble podcast that I and Donna from Donna B Astrology co-host. We record horoscopes for the New and Full Moons, look ahead at the planetary aspects for the following two weeks and give our take on them. You can find the latest New or Full Moon podcast on the front page of this website or over at the Astro Babble YouTube Channel.
